But then again, this game WAS made back when Disney were still producing high quality animation in general so that's really no surprise! Simba himself is superbly animated, and all the graphics are of very high quality.
So the keyboard is a lot more practical in this sort of game. I have the DOS version of this game too (which I originally got because I wanted to play the levels that were not included in the Amiga version) but found it a lot easier to handle because I was playing it with a keyboard, and rather than moving one joystick in certain ways I just had to press one key. The controls are user-friendly, even though you have quite a few abilities later in the game and mastering them using a joystick can prove to be quite tricky. A shame.Īs a huge fan of the movie, I may be a little biased about this game, but I've had a lot of enjoyment out of the game and think it's great! The Aladdin conversion proved that the Amiga was capable of so much more. But this version of The Lion King does no justice to our beloved miggy. Once an amigan, always an amigan, I discovered. I may have even shed a figurative tear, because even despite the fact that I was a PC sell-out, I was a true amigan at heart. I remember feeling sorry for the Amiga for it to had sunk so low. The Amiga version had worse graphics, less levels, less extra content and even the sound and music were mediocre. Needless to say, then, that I felt gravely disappointed with it. I had already tried in on the SEGA MegaDrive so I went to it already biased by the console version of the game. A few of them owned A1200s and got this game. Never-the-less, some of my friends from my (now former) "Amiga circle" still used their Amiga's as their main games' rig. The only game I still played on the Amiga, back in 1995 was the all-mighty SWOS (which I still play to this day). Was the proud owner of a, 4MB RAM and a 1MB VESA graphic card (believe me, this was something else back in the day. By 1995 I had already mourned the Amiga and moved on.
